Applications open for Innovation and Early Careers Skills Exchange Pilot (IECSEP) Program

Introducing the Pathway for Professional Exchange between the UK and Australia

The Innovative Exchange and Career Skills Enhancement Program (IECSEP) marks a pivotal step in fostering professional mobility under the auspices of the Australia-United Kingdom Free Trade Agreement (A-UKFTA). This groundbreaking initiative offers eligible UK citizens a temporary visa avenue to advance their careers in the dynamic landscape of Australia.

Exciting News: IECSEP Applications Now Open!

Delving into the program's offerings, IECSEP unfolds through two distinct streams, each tailored to cater to diverse professional trajectories:

  • Early Careers Skills Stream: Designed to accommodate emerging talents, this stream facilitates short-term placements, secondments, or intra-corporate transfers for a period of up to one year within Australia.

The ongoing round has been extended, with the application window now closing at 11:59 pm (GMT) on April 30, 2024.

  • Innovation Stream: Catering to seasoned professionals with a proven track record of innovation, this stream presents enriching opportunities spanning up to three years in Australia.

Round 2 is set to conclude at 11:59 pm (GMT) on April 30, 2024.

An allocation of 1,000 visas is earmarked for the fiscal year 2023/24, with an expanded quota of 2,000 visas slated for the fiscal year 2024/25, subject to program evaluation.

Please note: Application rounds may be subject to closure prior to the stipulated deadlines. Recent indications from the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) suggest a propensity to keep the program accessible until the fiscal year's culmination if the visa quota remains unfulfilled.

Benefits Galore for Australian Employers

Dispensing with the need for sponsorship, labour market testing, or nominated occupation lists, Australian employers stand to gain substantially from the IECSEP initiative.

Successful applicants will receive a letter of support from DFAT, facilitating their application for a Temporary Work (International Relations) subclass 403 visa under the Government Agreement stream. Notably, DFAT boasts a swift processing time of just 7 days for IECSEP applications!
