Update on 2024-25 Skilled Migration Program State Nomination Allocations

The long awaited allocations of State Nominations for the Subclass 190 and Subclass 491 visa have been announced. Here's a comprehensive breakdown of the allocations:

Australian Capital Territory (ACT)

The ACT has been allocated a total of 1,800 nomination places:

  • Skilled Nominated Visa (Subclass 190): 1,000 places

  • Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) Visa (Subclass 491): 800 places

These allocations reflect the ACT Government’s dedication to attracting skilled professionals to support local economic growth. The next invitation round will be held before 31 August 2024.​ 

Northern Territory (NT)

The Australian Government has allocated 1,600 nomination places to the NT for the 2024-25 program year, doubling the previous year's allocation. Applications can now be lodged through the NT Government’s online portal. This increase aims to bolster the region’s skilled workforce​.

South Australia (SA)

South Australia has been allocated 3,800 skilled visa nomination places:

  • Skilled Nominated Visa (Subclass 190): 3,000 places

  • Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) Visa (Subclass 491): 800 places

This allocation marks an additional 1,500 places compared to the 2023-24 program year, focusing on addressing regional skill shortages.

Western Australia (WA)

Western Australia has been allocated 5,000 skilled visa nomination places. Invitation rounds are expected to be held in the first week of each month, starting from August 2024. Additionally, the state will continue to waive the $200 application fee, making the process more accessible for applicants.

Queensland

Queensland has been allocated 1,200 nomination places:

  • Skilled Nominated Visa (Subclass 190): 600 places

  • Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) Visa (Subclass 491): 600 places

New South Wales (NSW)

NSW has received 5,000 nomination places:

  • Skilled Nominated Visa (Subclass 190): 3,000 places

  • Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) Visa (Subclass 491): 2,000 places

Invitation rounds occur throughout the financial year without predetermined dates.

Tasmania

Tasmania has been allocated 2,860 nomination places:

  • Skilled Nominated Visa (Subclass 190): 2,100 places

  • Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) Visa (Subclass 491): 760 places

Victoria

Victoria has been allocated 5,000 skilled visa nomination places:

  • Skilled Nominated Visa (Subclass 190): 3,000 places

  • Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) Visa (Subclass 491): 2,000 places
